Biography:

          Dami is the daughter of publisher Piero Dami (who founded Dami Editore in 1972). At the age of nineteen she wrote her first short stories. As an adventure lover, she got her aircraft pilot and parachutist licenses aged 20, and at 23 she travelled around the world on her own and completed a famous survival course at the Outward Bound School in Maine, in the United States. Some of Dami's other adventures include taking part in a rally in the Sahara desert and crossing Africa from north to south in an off-road vehicle; she raced the 100-km Sahara ultramarathon and ran three New York marathons (in 2002, 2003, and 2017).

 Let's see how it all started. She was born in Milano. By the age of thirteen, She already was working for her father, as a proof reader, plunged into books, already dreaming of becoming a writer. At the age of twenty She already was touring the world with him, because his books for children were sold in many different countries. After that precious experience, in which she learnt the little big secrets of publishing, she realized that what really made her happy was writing and since then, she never stopped writing books,with love and passion, with excitment and commitment, with all her heart. 

The creation of Geronimo Stilton:

                                                     In 1990, Dami found out that she could not have kids, so she decided to volunteer in a children's hospital and care for sick kids.

                                                      That is how she started to tell children stories that were funny and adventurous (but also full of good values) of a shy, tender and clumsy mouse: Geronimo Stilton!

                                                         

                                                       Children seemed to love those stories, and that’s how she started to write Geronimo’s adventures, that soon  became books.

                                                          She also told that She have never imagined that they would have been popular!

                                                            Today they are published in 49 different languages, and have sold 180 million copies all over the world.

                                                                 That is why She can say that mine is truly a happy ending story: She made my dream come true, and She have become the mother of millions of children all over the world.
